Biography

The illustrious career of Frank Puglia, which commenced at the tender age of 15, when he joined a prestigious traveling operetta company, marked the beginning of a lifelong journey in the world of entertainment. Prior to this, he had already made his mark on the Italian opera scene, taking to the stage at the remarkably young age of 13.

Years later, in 1907, Puglia made the bold decision to leave his native Italy and set sail for the United States, where he would go on to work in a laundry before joining an Italian-language theatre group in the bustling city of New York. This move would ultimately prove to be a pivotal moment in his career, as it was during this time that he was discovered by the renowned director D.W. Griffith.

Griffith, impressed by Puglia's talents, offered him a role in one of his productions, and thus began a long and fruitful collaboration between the two. Throughout his extensive 150+ film career, Puglia would go on to play a wide range of characters, including ethnic roles, priests, diplomats, and musicians, solidifying his reputation as a versatile and accomplished actor.
