A mother and her 6-year-old son are forced to bail out of a plane over the Belgian Congo, leaving them separated. The mother is rescued by a safari, but her son is never found. He's later discovered to have amnesia and is taken in by a gorilla named Zamba, who raises him as her own. When the mother returns with a search party, the gorilla becomes fiercely protective of her adopted son, determined to keep him from his biological mother.
