The lure of gold attracts a group of adventurers to Liberty, Texas, a railroad watering-stop. The group consists of three aging Union army veterans, Lane, Jesse, and Grady, along with drifters Ben, Sal, and Calhoun. They plan to accompany Mrs. Lowe, a train robber's widow, to the site where her husband hid a gold shipment. However, they are pursued by the deceased robber's gang members and other outlaws.
