In a post-apocalyptic world, Dr. Robert Neville is the sole survivor of a biological war, thanks to an experimental vaccine. However, the plague has created a few hundred deformed, night-dwelling creatures known as "The Family", who are driven by a desire to kill and are vulnerable to light. Believing science and technology caused the war and their downfall, they seek to destroy Neville, the last representative of the old world.
