Pride background

Pride

In the hot summer of 1984, a historic alliance formed between British LGBTQ+ activists and striking miners, as they stood together in a powerful display of unity, backing the prolonged National Union of Mineworkers strike.

Twenty-year-old Joe arrives in London for his first Gay Pride march, meeting a group of gay men and lesbian Steph at a Soho bookshop. The group, led by Jonathan and his partner Gethin, shows solidarity with the miners on strike against Thatcher's pit closures. A minibus of gays accidentally ends up in a Welsh village, where they win over the community with fundraising efforts and disco dancing.
