Biography

Sophie Evans, a talented individual, was born and raised in Tonypandy, situated within the Rhondda Valleys of Wales, alongside her younger sister Beth and their parents, Michelle and David. Her early life was marked by a significant appearance on BBC-1's Over the Rainbow (2010),a search for a Dorothy conducted by the renowned Andrew Lloyd Webber, where she ultimately placed as the runner-up.

Following her stint on the program, Sophie pursued her passion for musical theatre by attending Arts Educational Schools Chiswick, where she studied the subject in-depth. Her academic endeavors led her to secure the role of Alternate Dorothy in "The Wizard of Oz", which she performed at the prestigious London Palladium, taking to the stage once a week.

As her experience and confidence grew, Sophie transitioned into the lead role, performing eight shows a week, a testament to her dedication and perseverance. Her extensive repertoire has seen her take the stage at various esteemed venues across the UK, including The Royal Albert Hall, The Royal Opera House (for the Olivier Awards),The Wales Millennium Centre, The Millennium Stadium, Liberty Stadium, Cardiff City Stadium, The Motorpoint Arena Cardiff, Manchester Bridgewater Hall, and Headingley Stadium.

Sophie's television appearances are equally impressive, having featured in numerous programs, including a week-long stint on S4C's cariad@iaith/love4language, where she learned Welsh alongside other prominent Welsh personalities. ITV also documented her journey during her "Wizard of Oz" run for a documentary titled "Dare to Dream". Her acting skills were showcased in Simon Pegg and Nick Frost's The World's End (2013),where she appeared as part of The Marmalade Sandwich.

In addition to her television and stage work, Sophie has also had the opportunity to star in her own TV Christmas Show on BBC One Wales, performing alongside the BBC National Orchestra and special guests Michael Ball and Only Boys Aloud.
