The legendary French gangster Jacques Mesrine, known as French Public Enemy No. 1 and The Man of a Thousand Faces, charted an outlaw odyssey in the 1960s and 1970s. Infamous for his daring prison escapes and numerous crimes, Mesrine was eventually shot dead in 1979 by France's anti-gang unit. Despite his death, his infamy lives on.
