Biography

Ludivine Sagnier was born on July 3, 1979, in La Celle-Saint-Cloud, a town located in the Yvelines department of France.

As a young girl, Ludivine studied acting and made her movie debut at the tender age of 10 in the 1989 film "Les maris, les femmes, les amants".

Throughout her career, Ludivine has established herself as one of the most promising young stars in French and international cinema, collaborating with renowned filmmaker François Ozon on several projects, including "Water Drops on Burning Rocks" (2000),"8 Women" (2002),and "Swimming Pool" (2003).

For her outstanding performance in "8 Women", Ludivine received a Cesar Award nomination, the French equivalent of the Oscar, and the Romy Schneider Award, which is presented annually to a promising young French actress.

In "8 Women", Ludivine proved her acting prowess by standing out in a stellar cast that included legendary actresses Danielle Darrieux, Catherine Deneuve, Isabelle Huppert, Emmanuelle Béart, and Fanny Ardant. Along with her co-stars, Ludivine won the Best Actress Award from the European Film Academy Award and the Silver Bear Award at the 2002 Berlin International Film Festival.

"Swimming Pool" marked Ludivine's crossover into English-language cinema, and the film became one of the biggest-grossing foreign movies in the U.S. during 2003. Although she has been offered large sums of money to appear in American films, Ludivine remains committed to French cinema.

On March 25, 2005, Ludivine gave birth to a daughter named Bonnie, her first child with her boyfriend, French actor Nicolas Duvauchelle.
