In 1919, the Osage Nation in Oklahoma becomes the wealthiest people in the US after oil is discovered on their land. Ernest Burkhart, a recently discharged US Army veteran, returns to work for his wealthy uncle William Hale in the area. Amidst the prosperity, a series of suspicious deaths plagues the Osage community, but no one is held accountable.
