Désirée

In 1794 Marseilles, France, a young millinery clerk named Desiree Clary falls for Napoleon Bonaparte, but ultimately marries General Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte, an aid to Napoleon who later contributes to the Emperor's downfall. Meanwhile, Joséphine de Beauharnais, a sophisticated courtesan, marries Napoleon and becomes Empress of France, only to be abandoned by her husband when she fails to give birth to a male heir.
