Tommy Williams, a struggling singer, becomes fixated on making it to Broadway, but his current gig at a spaghetti house only seems to be a distant dream. He meets Penny Morris, a talented singer in her own right, who inspires him to promote a show that benefits orphaned children on a country holiday. However, Tommy's true intentions are soon exposed, and his romance with Penny is put to the test amidst the challenges of war in Europe and an engagement that's falling through.
