A high school English teacher, Blanche DuBois, moves to live with her sister and brother-in-law in New Orleans after her family property is taken over by creditors. She's shocked by their cramped apartment and her brother-in-law Stanley's rough behavior. Blanche finds Stanley's hyper-masculinity coarse and vulgar, while Stanley suspects she may have sold their family property and is hiding the proceeds.
