William Sutton was born into a lively household with five older sisters and a younger brother, all of whom he grew up with in Rawtenstall, Rossendale Valley, Lancashire.
As a grammar school student, he completed his education up until O levels.
At the age of 16, he emigrated with his parents, brother, and next oldest sister to Mississauga, Ontario, where he attended high school until grade 13.
After a gap year, during which he drove across the United States, he pursued higher education at Erindale College, University of Toronto.
It was during his time at university that he discovered his passion for acting.
Following his graduation, he embarked on a brief two-year career as a luger on the Canadian Olympic B team.
He then relocated to the city he loves, Amsterdam, where he began his acting career with the Stalhouderij Company and appeared in his earliest television shows.
William's motto has always been "always be working."
In 1995, he had a life-changing encounter with an Ivy League professor in a coffee shop, which sparked his love for Shakespeare.
He subsequently studied at the Shakespeare Institute in Stratford on Avon to develop his skills and knowledge of Shakespeare.
During the late 2000s and mid-2010s, he was a founding member and active participant in Passion in Practice, an Original Practice Shakespeare ensemble created by Ben Crystal.
To finance his studies and support his acting career, William worked as a stand-up comedian, performing at the Comedy Cafe Amsterdam and touring venues across the Netherlands, as well as in South Africa, Curacao, and Taiwan.
Thirty years later, he is now a seasoned instructor, teaching Shakespeare, Voice, Accents, and Dialects.
Despite his extensive experience and knowledge of the craft, William has never had an agent, which may be why he remains one of acting's best-kept secrets.
