Wayne Pretlow, a native of Hartford, Connecticut, has had the privilege of working with some of the most renowned directors in the industry, including Jerry Zaks and the late Hal Prince. His extensive list of credits includes Broadway, Off-Broadway, regional, and international productions.
One of his most notable roles was as an original cast member in the 1999 Tony-nominated production of The Civil War. He also had the honor of being part of the 2017 world premiere of Roman Holiday, which premiered in San Francisco.
In New York, Pretlow has performed in numerous City Center Encores! concerts, earning critical acclaim from Broadway World, Newsday, and The New York Times for his performance in the Encores! Off-Center production of Don't Bother Me I Can't Cope, directed and choreographed by Savion Glover.
Throughout his career, Pretlow has received several awards and nominations, including the Boston *I.R.N.E. in 2013 and a *Helen Hayes Award nomination in 2000 for Best-Supporting Actor in a Musical for his role as Nicely Nicely in productions of Guys & Dolls.
In addition to his stage work, Pretlow has also made appearances on television, including guest and co-starring roles in shows such as The Good Wife, Person of Interest, and Madam Secretary on CBS, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Luke Cage, and House of Cards on Netflix, as well as films like Like Sunday Like Rain, Next Stop Wonderland, The Accident, and Yardbird Houston in the short film In Retrospect.
Pretlow has also made appearances on various talk shows, including The Rosie O'Donnell Show, The David Letterman Show, The Chris Rock Show, and The Dave Chappelle Show. He has also done over 100 regional and national commercials for brands such as Saturn, Wendy's, Canon Copiers, Staples, and AOL.
In the 1990s, Pretlow was the voice of the Sprinkle Spangle Genie, a short-lived General Mills cereal character. He is currently represented by Nicolosi & Co and Paradigm Talent agencies in New York.
