Ward Greene, an American novelist, was born in Asheville, North Carolina in 1892 to a family with a rich lineage dating back to the American Revolution. His ancestor, General Nathanael Greene, a prominent figure in the Continental Army, served under General George Washington. When Greene was a child, his family relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, where he was raised.
