Vera Chok is a multifaceted individual who embodies a wide range of creative pursuits. Born in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, to a Chinese family, she was raised in a missionary school environment before moving to the United Kingdom as a teenager to complete her secondary education at Abbots Bromley School in Staffordshire, England.
Chok's academic journey continued at Queens College, Oxford, where she earned her Master's degree in Archaeology & Anthropology. However, her passion for the arts soon took center stage, and she began studying acting at the Poor School in London and Ecole Philippe Gaulier in Paris.
In 2013, Chok furthered her education by pursuing a Master's degree in Writing at the University of East London, demonstrating her dedication to continuous learning. Her acting credits include a diverse range of performances in theatre, television, radio, and film, including independent productions, large-scale television dramas, one-woman shows, and critically acclaimed plays such as Lucy Kirkwood's "Chimerica" at the Almeida and Harold Pinter theatres.
Chok is also the founder of saltpeter, an independent theatre company, where she has served as producer and co-produced several successful shows. Beyond her acting career, Chok is the lead singer of the band FRIENDS OF FRIENDS (FOF),which released its debut single "Your Sappy Song" in March 2014.
In addition to music, Chok has explored her creative side through writing. She founded The Brautigan Book Club in 2011, an international creative society that uses the work of American Beat writer Richard Brautigan as a catalyst for artistic expression. Chok's written works, which often blend elements of poetry, have been published by Ether Press, Brautigan Free Press, and The Rising.
