Veera W. Vilo, a Finnish actress, producer, and screenwriter, was born on September 22, 1990, in Oulu,, Finland to two architects. As the first child, she grew up in Espoo, on the south coast of Finland.
Veera's early life was marked by a passion for music, which she began studying at the age of eight with the trumpet. She continued playing for six years before shifting her focus to gymnastics. Her dedication to gymnastics led her to win the Aesthetic Group Gymnastics junior world championship with her team Deltat in 2005. A year later, she began her gymnastics career, which eventually resulted in her winning the Aesthetic Group Gymnastics senior world championship and a world cup gold with Deltat in 2008.
Veera's educational background includes graduating from Haukilahti High School in 2009 with an art stipend. She then decided to pursue acting, studying at the West-Finland college for a year in 2010. During this time, she gained experience on stage and landed her first film roles.
In 2011, Veera moved to the UK to study BA Acting at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David in Carmarthen, Wales, where she lived for three years. During her final year, she starred in the Finnish horror-comedy Bunny the Killer Thing (2015),which gained her international recognition.
After graduating in 2014, Veera returned to Finland and began making films with the people she had met during the filming of Bunny the Killer Thing. In 2015, she was cast alongside her future spouse, Roope Olenius, in Sami Pöyry's thriller Punainen kohina (2021),which they both produced. This led to the establishment of their boutique production and distribution company, Bright Fame Pictures.
Veera and Olenius have since collaborated on several projects, including Tuftland (2017),in which she acted as an actress-producer with Olenius directing. In 2019, it was announced that Veera would be playing the lead role in Free Skate (2022),a drama-thriller set in the figure skating world, which she wrote.
Veera currently resides in Espoo, Finland, with her husband, Roope Olenius, and their three children.
