Ty Jones was born to be a filmmaker, with a passion for writing that began at just seven years old. However, it was when he started making films that he discovered his true calling, unleashing his volcanic imagination onto the screen.
Ten years ago, Ty picked up an 8mm camera and began shooting his first film, marking the start of his journey as a filmmaker. Since then, he has studied with the prestigious Hollywood Film Institute in Chicago and Los Angeles, where he honed his skills under the guidance of industry legend Dov Simmons, who has also mentored the likes of Spike Lee and Quentin Tarantino.
Over the past decade, Ty has directed nearly 40 short films, many of which have been showcased at film festivals around the world. His extensive experience has also seen him work on over 200 projects, including commercials for NASCAR and Sprint, as well as national television programs. Ty has held almost every position in the film industry, from Director of Photography to Assistant Director to Best Boy, and has even dabbled in acting.
As a result of his extensive technical knowledge, Ty knows exactly how to bring his creative vision to life, crafting stories that captivate audiences, evoke emotions, and leave them laughing. His passion for storytelling is evident in every project he takes on.
In addition to his filmmaking skills, Ty has also dedicated the past eight years to studying the craft of acting, a pursuit that has not only improved his own acting abilities but also enabled him to better communicate with his actors as a director, coaxed exceptional performances from his cast, and earned him the respect of industry peers.
Ty's big break came when Jeff Burr, a renowned filmmaker with over 20 feature credits to his name, asked him to join the team for his latest feature, "The Devil's Den." This marked the beginning of Ty's transition to Los Angeles, where he has worked on numerous features, absorbing the ins and outs of Hollywood and the film industry.
After gaining valuable experience in LA, Ty returned to his hometown of Kansas City to bring his passion project, "Last Breath," to life. His ultimate goal for this first feature film is to create an experience that will resonate with audiences long after they leave the theater.
