Toshio Suzuki is a renowned film producer of anime, with a long-standing professional relationship with the acclaimed Hayao Miyazaki, and also held the esteemed position of former president of the prestigious Studio Ghibli.
Suzuki's impressive career has earned him the reputation as one of Japan's most successful producers, with numerous Ghibli films achieving massive box office success in Japan. Born in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture in 1948, Suzuki began his academic journey at Keio University in 1967, graduating with a degree in literature in 1972.
In addition to his work with Studio Ghibli, Suzuki was also involved in the production of Mamoru Oshii's thought-provoking film, Angel's Egg, released in 1985.
Suzuki's professional accolades continue to accumulate, with nominations for the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in both 2014 and 2017. His nominations were for his work as producer on The Wind Rises, a collaboration with Hayao Miyazaki, and The Red Turtle, respectively.
