Antonio Garisa, a multitalented individual, began his journey by learning the art of singing and dancing. He then ventured into various occupations, including the world of boxing, where he achieved the impressive title of lightweight amateur champion of Castilla, Spain. As his interests evolved, he turned his attention to the theatre in his 40s, joining the companies of Revista de Martín and Celia Gámez. It was during this time that he crossed paths with another renowned dancer, Nati Mistral, who would later become a famous actress.
Garisa's entry into the world of cinema was marked by small and secondary roles, with his first film being "Los últimos de Filipinas" in 1945. He often portrayed the character of the 'chulo madrileño', a quintessential Madrid city man, characterized by his authentic verbal accent and unique behavior. This type of role brought him immense success in the 1950s.
As his acting career flourished, Garisa decided to branch out into direction and production. He founded his own production company and produced three films, although unfortunately, they failed to gain popularity and the company ultimately went bankrupt. Undeterred, he refocused on his acting career.
In recognition of his remarkable career, Garisa was honored at the 1993 Goya Awards Ceremony. Tragically, his wife, Concha Paez, passed away in August 2017.
