Biography

Tomas Arana is a renowned actor with a diverse and extensive career spanning over four decades. Born in San Francisco, he studied classical theatre at the prestigious American Conservatory Theatre before relocating to New York and acting in off-Broadway productions.

Arana's early career took him to Europe, where he worked in the Lucio Amelio Art Gallery in Naples, Italy, collaborating with renowned artists such as Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg, and Cy Twombly. This experience not only honed his artistic skills but also instilled in him a deep appreciation for the arts.

As an actor, Arana has appeared in over 80 films, ranging from large-budget Hollywood productions to independent European films. Some of his notable roles include Quintus in Ridley Scott's Oscar-winning film Gladiator, Lazarus in Martin Scorsese's controversial Last Temptation of Christ, and Phillip Bongiorno in the Raiuno project Mike.

In addition to his film work, Arana has also had a successful television career, starring in shows such as Intelligence, Tutti Pazzi Per Amore, and Verbrechen. He has also made guest appearances on numerous network TV shows.

Arana's theatre credits include working as a producer and actor with the internationally acclaimed theatre company Falso Movimento, which won numerous awards, including Best Play of the Year and the prestigious Mondello Prize. He also co-founded the Milano Oltre Theatre & Dance Festival in Milan and produced the Italian Avantgarde Theatre Festival, BENVENUTO, at the La MaMa Theatre in NYC.

A multi-talented individual, Arana is not only an accomplished actor but also a skilled athlete, having been an award-winning youth athlete in San Francisco. He has also practiced various martial arts, including Aikido, Judo, and Japanese Sword, as well as advanced dance and movement techniques.

Arana holds both U.S. and Italian citizenship and has three sons and a stepson. Throughout his career, he has worked with some of the most renowned directors, actors, and artists in the industry, solidifying his reputation as a talented and versatile performer.
