Thurman Dalrymple Jr. was born in Detroit, Michigan to Ruth (Holm) and Thurman Dalrymple, entrepreneurs who later settled in Birmingham, Michigan and San Diego, California, giving him a unique blend of Finnish, Scottish, and Irish heritage. As an identical twin, he shares a special bond with his brother Trent Dalrymple, who resides in Michigan, and is also the older sibling to two sisters, Ellen Anderson and Wendy Dalrymple.
Thurman has been married to his wife, Linda (Lewandowski) Dalrymple, since April 7, 1979, and they have two children, Jessica Dalrymple and Thurman John "T.J." Dalrymple III. Throughout his life, Thurman has developed a passion for collecting cars and trucks, owning over 30 of them, as well as motorcycles, boats, and vintage cars and trucks. He and his brother even shared a band, where Thurman was the drummer and Trent was the guitarist, allowing them to express their love for the stage and performing.
Thurman's educational background includes graduating from Andover High School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and later attending Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, where he was encouraged by his guidance counselor to take acting classes as part of his Communication Arts degree program. It was during this time that he met his influential acting teacher, Adeline Herschfeld-Medalia, and began his training in theatre and performing at the university's Barn Theatre and on-campus plays.
After four years of marriage and the birth of his two children, Thurman was invited to return to Oakland University to audition for the play "A Month in the Country" and later "Who am I this Time," which he landed and performed in. This experience further fueled his passion for the stage, and he continued to study the performing arts.
In 1990, Thurman and his family relocated to San Diego, California, where he worked in real estate before pursuing his passion for acting. He began training in commercial acting and voiceover at Multi Media Arts with Dru Scott, as well as character analysis and scene study in "method acting" at the Rehearsal Room under the guidance of Carey Scott, a successful actor and teacher.
Thurman soon started helping SDSU and USC graduate film students by performing in their film projects, and he also performed in dinner theatre for over a year. In 2002, he signed with his two talent agents in Los Angeles and San Diego, and in 2005, he was accepted into the Screen Actors Guild and later AFTRA.
Throughout his career, Thurman has performed on stage, television, movies, and industrial programs and commercials. He currently resides between San Diego and Los Angeles, and is actively represented by Shamon Freitas Model and Talent Agency in San Diego since 2003 and Clear Talent Group in Los Angeles since 2015. In his free time, Thurman enjoys golfing, bowling, camping, landscaping, handyman projects, spending time with his family, working at his son's fabricating shop, and participating in various outdoor activities.
