Thomas has spent over two decades honing his craft in the advertising, documentary, and feature film industries. He rose to prominence in the outdoor and action sports world after co-directing music videos and commercials with his partner Philipp Kadelbach. Following the success of his feature documentary "Cerro Torre, a snowball's chance in hell," Thomas expanded his repertoire to commercial and feature film production.
Throughout his illustrious career, Thomas has worked with numerous international brands, including Volkswagen, Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Chevrolet, Amnesty International, Caritas, UBS, Burger King, Hornbach, Wrigley's, OMV, and Swiss Tourism. His impressive portfolio boasts a wide range of music videos and commercials.
Thomas's notable achievements include directing for Red Bull Media House, where he documented world-class climber David Lama's free climbing ascent of Cerro Torre, a notoriously difficult mountain. The resulting film premiered at the San Sebastian Film Festival, revolutionizing the action sports and aerial filmmaking landscape.
In 2014, Thomas created a series of five Mini-biopics for Autostadt's "Panoramakino," directing and shooting each piece himself. He utilized a custom-designed rig featuring three 6K cameras to capture the immersive 12K format.
Thomas has also collaborated with his long-time partner Philipp Kadelbach on several projects, including the feature film "So viel Zeit" for UFA Fiction. The film, starring Jürgen Vogel, Jan-Josef Liefers, Armin Rohde, and Ritchie Müller, is scheduled for release in winter 2018.
