Terri Garber is a renowned American television and film actress, widely recognized for her captivating portrayal of Ashton Main, a charismatic Southern Belle vixen, in the critically acclaimed three-part miniseries, North and South.
Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Garber was the youngest of three children. Her father, a lawyer, and her mother, who owned a cooking school, instilled in her a strong foundation for her future endeavors. Garber's passion for acting began at the tender age of 16, when she started performing in professional theater at the Coconut Grove Playhouse in Miami.
Her professional breakthrough came when she booked a commercial, earning her membership in the Screen Actor's Guild (SAG) and prompting her to relocate to New York to pursue her dreams in television, film, and theater. In New York, Garber landed her first significant role in the 1982 television series Texas, which marked the beginning of her illustrious career.
Subsequently, Garber moved to Los Angeles to audition for series pilots, and her big break came when she secured the role in "North and South". Following her success in "North and South", she went on to work on numerous daytime and nighttime soaps, including Dynasty, Santa Barbara, General Hospital, and As the World Turns, as well as guest-starring in various drama series and feature films.
In her personal life, Garber married her high school drama teacher, William Roudebush, in 2013. She is also a proud mother of Molly Hager, a talented Broadway actress, from her previous marriage to Chris Hager. Moreover, Garber has recently collaborated with her sister, Lisa Rubenstein, to establish an all-natural, handmade soap company called SistersAlchemy.
Today, Garber resides in New York City with her husband, Roudebush, and their adorable maltese-poodle mix, Boo.
