Talgat Dosymgalievich Temenov is a renowned director, actor, screenwriter, and professor who has made significant contributions to the world of film and theater. Born on November 23, 1954, in the village of Malybai, Alma-Ata region, Temenov's journey began with his graduation from the acting faculty of the Alma-Ata Conservatory in 1976.
From 1976 to 1980, he honed his skills as an actor at the Talda-Kurgan regional drama Theater, followed by a stint as an assistant director and screenwriter at the Kazakhfilm film studio from 1980 to 1982. Temenov's passion for filmmaking led him to enroll in the Higher Courses of screenwriters and Directors, where he graduated in 1986 under the guidance of the renowned S. Solovyov.
Temenov's directorial debut came in 1988 with the film "The Wolf among People," which garnered critical acclaim and won several awards, including the Special Jury Prize "For the best directorial Debut" at the International Film Festival in Lisbon in 1990. His success was recognized by the Union of Cinematographers of the USSR, and he became a member in 1988.
Throughout his illustrious career, Temenov has held various positions of leadership, including Rector of the Almaty State Theatrical Art Institute named after Zhurgeneva from 1994 to 2002, General Director of the Kazakhfilm Film Studio named after Shaken Aimanov from 2002 to 2005, and Artistic Director of the Kazakh State Academic Theater for Children and Youth named after G. Musrepov from 2005 to 2014.
Since 2014, Temenov has been the Artistic Director of the Kazakh Musical and Drama Theater named after K. Kuanyshbayev, where he continues to inspire and mentor a new generation of artists. With a legacy that spans over four decades, Temenov's dedication to his craft has earned him the title of People's Artist of Kazakhstan in 1998.
