Susan Strasberg, a talented actress born on May 22, 1938, in New York City, was destined for a life in the spotlight. As the daughter of Lee Strasberg, the renowned acting coach at the Actors Studio, she was exposed to the world of acting from a young age.
At just 15 years old, Susan made her acting debut in the episode "Catch a Falling Star" (1953) of the Goodyear Playhouse (1951). However, her true stage debut came later, when she played the title role in "Diary of Anne Frank" on Broadway in 1955.
Susan's first movie role was a notable fourth-billed part in "Picnic" (1955),alongside established stars such as William Holden, Kim Novak, Rosalind Russell, Cliff Robertson, and Arthur O'Connell. She continued to balance her time between the stage and screen, appearing in films like "The Cobweb" (1955) and "Stage Struck" (1958).
On stage, Susan shared the spotlight with big names like Helen Hayes and Richard Burton in "Time Remembered" (1957). Throughout her career, she alternated between stage, screen, and television, appearing in a wide range of productions and films.
Susan also spent time in Europe, particularly Italy, making films for her fans. She appeared in three documentaries about her friend Marilyn Monroe: "Marilyn Monroe: Beyond the Legend" (1986),"Remembering Marilyn" (1988),and "Marilyn Monroe: Life After Death" (1994).
Sadly, Susan lost her battle with breast cancer on January 21, 1999, at the age of 60, in New York City.
