Sudev Nair, a talented individual, marked his debut in the film industry with the critically acclaimed movie My Life Partner, earning him the prestigious Kerala State Award for Best Actor in 2015. Since then, he has appeared in numerous notable Malayalam films and has also ventured into the world of web series, creating the highly acclaimed mockumentary Not Fit, which has catapulted him to the status of a sought-after creator.
Born and raised in Mumbai, Sudev hails from a humble background, being the son of Vijayakumar V. and Subhada, both employed service class individuals. He has a younger brother, Sujai, who is a software professional. Sudev pursued a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science from the National Institute of Technology Nagpur, despite securing a campus placement. Instead, he chose to attend the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, where he specialized in acting and also attended courses on film appreciation, writing, direction, and editing. He graduated in 2011 as a well-rounded film professional.
Without any family background in the film industry, Sudev had to work hard to find opportunities. He introduced himself to Benaras Media Works production house during a chance visit, leaving his profile. He was subsequently called for an audition and selected as one of the main negative characters in the film Gulaab Gang opposite Madhuri Dixit in 2013. Concurrently, he continued to search for opportunities in Kerala, eventually having his online show reel discovered by MB Padmakumar, leading to his role as the leading character in My Life Partner.
As of 2016, Sudev resides in Mumbai with his feline companion, Mimi, who has graciously allowed him to share her space, at least for the time being.
