Steve De Roover's professional journey began after completing his high school education, where he showcased his expertise as a film critic for two prominent film-related websites in Belgium, attracting a significant audience.
He then transitioned to freelance work, contributing to various national and international websites, publications, and columns, including the renowned "Legends of Asia" column, the official Friday the 13th films website, Badchix, Moviepulp, the Advalvas web magazine, Publicity magazine, and numerous other notable outlets.
As his experience grew, Steve De Roover made a few appearances on television shows and movies, sparking his interest in working behind the scenes on various film and television productions.
In 2013, he completed his short film "Un Homme Bien", an adaptation of the book by Belgian author Vanessa Morgan (The Strangers Outside, Drowned Sorrow). The vampire short premiered at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival in 2013, receiving international festival success.
This success led to the production of the short thriller "Bleu" in 2014, co-produced alongside director Kevin Hoed.
In 2015, Steve De Roover and Kevin Hoed established 'Skladanowsky', an edgy independent production company focusing on short films, music videos, company films, commercials, and feature documentaries.
Some of their notable projects include the acclaimed gay drama "Skai Blue" by Guido Verelst, Jasper Vrancken's darkly ambitious Melies D'Argent winning "Muil", the feature documentary "Forgotten Scares: An In-depth Look at Flemish Horror Cinema", and "De Gave Van De Verontwaardiging".
