Stephanie Soechtig is a renowned writer, producer, and documentary film director, celebrated for her thought-provoking and masterfully crafted films.
Her most recent documentary, Under the Gun, premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival and received a prolonged standing ovation, as well as critical acclaim from critics who deemed it "the best film on firearms since the 2002 Oscar-winning doc Bowling for Columbine." The film was subsequently acquired by Lionsgate and Epix.
Two years prior, her documentary FED UP premiered at Sundance and was acquired by Radius/TWC, receiving a wide theatrical release and earning a New York Times Critic's Pick. FED UP has been likened to Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth for its impactful portrayal of the global sugar addiction and its devastating effects on public health.
Stephanie's directorial debut, Tapped, shed light on the environmental and health costs of the bottled water industry, earning widespread critical acclaim and winning six awards for Best Documentary Feature.
Prior to her work as a documentary filmmaker, Stephanie Soechtig began her career producing documentaries for 20/20 and Primetime Live, covering the 2000 presidential elections for Good Morning America and working with ABC's long-form unit to produce Planet Earth hosted by Leonardo DiCaprio.
She then transitioned to Fox, where she produced network specials for Bill O'Reilly before moving on to produce his daily show, The O'Reilly Factor. Stephanie's extensive experience in documentary filmmaking also led her to produce VH1's My Coolest Years and launch E! News's The Daily Ten.
In 2008, Stephanie co-founded Atlas Films with Michael and Michelle Walrath, aiming to create films that educate and inspire audiences. Stephanie graduated cum laude from NYU, where she earned a degree in Journalism and a minor in Cinema Studies.
In addition to her work in documentary filmmaking, Stephanie Soechtig has been recognized by Fortune Magazine as one of the "Most Innovative Women in Food and Drink." She has also directed political campaign commercials, short films, and viral videos for nonprofit organizations, including the Environmental Working Group and Food and Water Watch.
