Sriram Raghavan is an Indian filmmaker, known for his work in the Hindi film industry, particularly in the neo-noir thriller genre.
Born and raised in Pune, Raghavan attended St. Vincent's High School and later studied economics at Fergusson College in Pune.
Initially, Raghavan pursued a career in journalism, working at Stardust magazine before joining the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in Pune to study direction.
After completing his studies, Raghavan worked on a short feature film, Raman Raghav - A City, A Killer, based on the crimes of Raman Raghav, a serial killer of Bombay. Although the film was made on a low budget and never released, it caught the attention of Ram Gopal Varma, who signed Raghavan to direct Ek Hasina Thi (2004).
Raghavan's subsequent films include Johnny Gaddaar (2007),Agent Vinod (2012),Badlapur (2015),and Andhadhun (2018). His films often explore themes of crime, revenge, and the darker aspects of human nature.
Andhadhun (2018) was a major commercial success, earning rave reviews from critics and winning several awards, including the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi, IIFA Award for Best Director, and Screen Award for Best Director.
