Shruti Tewari has dedicated over two decades to the creative arts, with a diverse range of acting projects that span from a blockbuster Bollywood film to numerous award-winning independent films. Prior to her transition into the creative arts, she gained valuable experience in investment banking and the tech industry. This MBA graduate from Mumbai and MIA graduate from Columbia University made a deliberate career shift to authentically represent minority voices.
In addition to her acting endeavors, Shruti is also the co-host of a Hindi podcast based in Silicon Valley, aptly titled "HindiVadi". She takes pleasure in sharing her self-composed poems and sharing anecdotes about her childhood in India.
In recent years, Shruti has been recognized for her outstanding work in the film industry. In 2019-2020, she was selected for the prestigious Sundance Collab directors and producers programs, where she developed her first feature film, "Flares". The screenplay for "Flares" is a finalist at the Big Apple Film Festival and the Oaxaca Film Festival, a semi-finalist at the LA Feedback Female Film Festival, and was spotlighted on StoryPitches for best logline and best scene.
In 2018, Shruti wrote and directed the short film "Trail Past Prejudice", which premiered at the Delhi International Film Festival and went on to win the Silver Remi award at WorldFest Houston. The film was also acquired by Shorts TV, UK. Furthermore, she worked on the virtual reality comedy "UTurn", which made its debut at the Cannes Film Festival in 2019.
Shruti's satire "Bibijis & Auntyjis" has been performed in several cities across the United States, including San Francisco, Chicago, and Los Angeles.
In addition to her work in the film industry, Shruti has also been dedicated to empowering at-risk youth for over a decade. Her mentorship and arts programs have had a positive impact on the lives of many young people, and she was awarded a Certificate of Honor by the City and County of San Francisco for her outstanding contributions.
