Biography

Shane Ryan-Reid began his filmmaking journey at the tender age of 7, introduced to video editing by his father at just 5 years old. He initially created action films, inspired by the likes of Jean-Claude Van Damme, but by 14, he had shifted his focus to dramas and films about troubled youth.

Shane's early endeavors were driven by a desire to act and write, rather than direct. However, it wasn't until he was 19 and witnessed the provocative films "The War Zone" (1999) and "Baise-moi" (2000) that he realized the potential impact of filmmaking in addressing issues like child abuse and sexual assault.

This newfound awareness led Shane to create violent films tackling these sensitive topics, which in turn sparked controversy in his hometown. Despite this, he continued to gain underground and indie recognition through the internet, eventually debuting his first theatrical release in 2007.

Lesley Ann Warren, an Academy Award-nominated actress, was so outraged by the promotional materials for Shane's film that she successfully lobbied to have them banned. In 2009, Shane faced further backlash after announcing plans to create a film about human trafficking and the Stockholm Syndrome, loosely inspired by the real-life story of Jaycee Dugard.

Shane subsequently dropped the project to focus on "My Name Is 'A' by Anonymous" (2012),a film about convicted killer Alyssa Bustamante. He made headlines by claiming the media's treatment of Alyssa was a "monstrous witch-hunt" and that he believed she may not have acted alone in the crime.

In 2014, Shane landed his first leading role in "The Interrogation of Cheryl Cooper" (2014),directed by Albert Pyun. He went on to co-star in "Samurai Cop 2: Deadly Vengeance" (2015) and directed and co-starred in "American Virus" (2015),co-writing the film with lead actress Kathryn Eastwood.

Since then, Shane has appeared in over 35 films, including "Choke" (2020),a continuation of his character Brandon from his debut feature film. He has also co-produced projects with numerous filmmakers, totaling over 150 films by 2024.

Shane's producing credits include films featuring actors such as Shelley Duvall, Ed Harris, Holt McCallany, Sophia Ali, Tom Sizemore, Kevin Spacey, Alan Ruck, Richard Dreyfuss, Louis Gossett Jr., Bruce Dern, Sally Kirkland, Peter Weller, Eric Roberts, Malcolm McDowell, Lance Henriksen, Nancy Allen, Nikki Blonsky, Lance Kerwin, Bai Ling, Jonathan Lipnicki, Eli Roth, Lorelei Linklater, Tom Arnold, Lin Shaye, Bonnie Aarons, Robert Englund, Devon Sawa, Tara Reid, Edward Furlong, Michael Madsen, Richard Grieco, Jason Scott Lee, Steve Guttenberg, 'Weird Al' Yankovic, Coolio, and many more.
