The years that followed would see Syed eke out a living as a pedestrian, residing on the pavement near the bustling Churchgate Railway Station. Little did he know that his life was about to take a dramatic turn. In 1988, Syed would land a breakthrough role in the Academy Award-nominated film "Salaam Bombay!" directed by the acclaimed Mira Nair.
This pivotal moment in his career would not go unnoticed, as Syed would go on to win the National Film Award for Best Child Artist at the 36th National Film Awards in 1989.
