Robin Irvine, a dashing stage and screen actor, was born in London in the year 1901. His educational background consisted of attending Aldenham School and Mill Hill School. Irvine made his stage debut on December 26, 1918, as Captain D'Arcy in the play 'My Lady Frayle' in Ipswich, and later made his London stage debut in 1923.
One of his most notable stage roles was in the play 'Beau Geste' at His Majesty's Theatre. In 1925, he made his first film appearance in Sinclair Hill's 'The Secret Kingdom' starring Matheson Lang at the Stoll Film Co. Irvine is perhaps best remembered for his roles as Tim Wakely in 'Downhill' starring Ivor Novello in 1927 and as John Whittaker in Alfred Hitchcock's 'Easy Virtue' in 1928. He also starred as George Breese in 'The Rising Generation' alongside Alice Joyce in 1928.
Irvine continued to appear in films, including talkies made in Germany and England, such as 'Fraulein Lausbub' in 1930 and 'Keeping of Youth' with Ann Todd in 1931. His last screen appearance was as Philip in 'Above Rubies' with Zoe Palmer in 1932.
Since 1931, Irvine had been serving as the general manager of St. George Film Productions, and had devoted himself to productions before his untimely death. Irvine had been on holiday in Bermuda, where he developed a chill that turned into pleurisy, ultimately leading to his death at the young age of 32.
Interestingly, Irvine was distantly related to the renowned author Robert Louis Stevenson.
