Person Biography:
Bob Michelucci is a renowned figure in the independent horror publishing field, known for his pioneering work in the industry. Born in 1952, Bob's interest in horror and science fiction began at a young age, leading him to pursue a career in the field.
In 1970, Bob was hired as a "Creative Apprentice" at Mel Richman Creative Marketing Services in Pittsburgh, where he worked for four years before moving on to Dick Z Associates as a graphic production artist. During this time, he also began to develop his skills as a writer and editor, eventually publishing his first book, "The Collectors Guide to Monster Magazines," in 1977.
In the late 1970s, Bob formed a partnership with Bill Wilson to design and co-publish a sci-fi magazine called "Questar," which reached a circulation of 100,000 at its peak in 1981. He also received a Lifetime Achievement Saturn Award from the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror in 1979.
In the 1980s, Bob went on to form IMAGINE, INC., publishing a number of trade paperback titles, including "Grande Illusions" and "Monster Make-Up Handbook." He also began working full-time as a production artist at the WQED Design Center, eventually rising to the position of Print Production Manager.
Throughout his career, Bob has been involved in numerous publishing projects, including magazines, books, and trading card sets. He has also worked on several film and television projects, including "Dawn of the Dead" and "Santa Claws."
In the 1990s, Bob acted as Chairman for the ZOMBIE JAMBOREE, a convention celebrating the 25th anniversary of the film "Night of the Living Dead." He has also chaired several other conventions in Pittsburgh, including the FANTASY FILM CELEBRITY CON and CON 2.
In addition to his work in the entertainment industry, Bob has also been involved in several business ventures, including a restaurant project called SORRISO PIZZA PERFECT, PASTA PERFECT, and a discount shopping mall and flea market called Rossi's Pop-Up Marketplace.
As of 2016, Bob continues to work as General Manager of Rossi's Pop-Up Marketplace, and is currently compiling and publishing his latest books, "MEMORIES OF THE LIVING DEAD" and "Bob Michelucci's MONSTERous Portfolio." He is also working on a project to create the GREATER PITTSBURGH ENTERTAINMENT MUSEUM and a companion book titled "THE COMPLETE HISTORY OF THE GREATER PITTSBURGH ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY."
