Christopher "Chris" Sparks, a renowned film producer, was the devoted husband of the talented actress Penny Singleton, also known as Blondie Bumstead. During the late 1930s and early 1940s, Sparks was instrumental in producing a string of successful "Blondie" movies.
Sparks' journey in the Hollywood film industry began in 1932 when he joined Paramount Pictures as a writer. He later transferred to Columbia Pictures in 1938, where he started producing the "Blondie" film series.
After serving his country in the United States Marine Corps during World War II, Sparks joined RKO as an executive producer. In his subsequent role with CBS, he played a crucial part in the development and supervision of several iconic television shows, including the popular western series "Gunsmoke" (1955),the classic western drama "Rawhide" (1959),and the esteemed mystery series "Perry Mason" (1957),among many others.
