Rishab Shetty, a renowned film personality, had a remarkable year in 2022 with his critically-acclaimed film Kantara.
Born Prashant Shetty, he later adopted the name Rishab Shetty for his screen persona. His father is an astrologer, and his mother is a homemaker.
Shetty pursued a Bachelor of Commerce degree at Vijaya College in Jayanagar, Bengaluru, and later earned a diploma in filmmaking from the Government Film and Television Institute in Bengaluru.
Growing up, Shetty nurtured a passion for the film industry and began performing as a Yakshagana artist in class 6. He also joined the theatre group Ranga Sourabha while at Vijaya College.
Shetty's talent was recognized when he won the best actor award for his title role in the play Ghashiram Kotwal at the national level theatre contest. After graduating, he started looking for opportunities in the film industry and did various odd jobs to make ends meet.
Shetty's journey in the film industry began as a clap boy and later as an assistant director in the Kannada movie Cyanide. He made his acting debut with the role of a villain in Tuglak.
Shetty's directorial debut was Ricky, in which he also played a small role. His next film as a director and actor was Kirik Party, which became a massive hit and earned him several awards.
Shetty's subsequent films, including Sarkari. Hi. Pra. Shale Kasaragodu, Koduge: Ramanna Rai, Ambi Ning Vysaitho, Bell Bottom, Katha Sangama, Hero, Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana, Harikathe Alla Girikathe, and Kantara, showcased his versatility as an actor and director.
Shetty has made cameo appearances in several movies, including Avane Srimannarayana, [email protected], and Mishan Impossible.
Rishab Shetty is married to a software engineer who has also worked as a costume designer for a few Kannada movies. The couple has two children, a son, and a daughter.
