Richard Toth was born and raised in the Bronx, New York, where he developed a strong foundation for his future endeavors.
After completing his education at Fordham University at Lincoln Center, Toth ventured into the experimental theater scene in New York City, honing his skills in various comedy clubs.
His passion for physical comedy led him to join the prestigious Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus, where he toured the United States as a featured clown, captivating audiences with his unique brand of humor.
Seeking new challenges, Toth traded in his clown makeup for a black hood and embarked on a cross-country journey with Hudson Vagabond Puppets, masterfully manipulating larger-than-life puppets in a modified Bunraku style.
His experiences with the Italian circus brought him to Europe, where he eventually co-founded the international performance collective, Misery Loves Company, which blended dynamic physicality, puppetry, and theatrical experimentation.
During his time in Europe, Toth made appearances in various local and visiting U.S. films, as well as becoming a regular at the Prague-based action movie factory, North American Pictures.
Upon his return to the United States, Toth has been frequently seen on downtown New York City and regional stages, as well as screens big and small.
As a professional, Toth is a member of both SAG/AFTRA and AEA, solidifying his reputation in the entertainment industry.
Toth resides in Brooklyn with his family, where he continues to pursue his passion for performance and entertainment.
