Richard Kinsey is a talented actor, recognized for his captivating performances in various productions, including Making Waves (2004),Useless (2011),and Good Friday (2010). He has been married to his loving wife, Susan Montgomery, since October 19, 1991, and they have a beautiful child together.
Born and raised in southern California, Richard began his performance career at a tender age of two. His mother, a soprano, would sing, and Richard would imitate her songs. His parents, observing their child's passion for singing, started bringing him to retirement homes and small venues, where he would perform. Throughout his childhood, Richard continued to perform in choirs, as a soloist, and in rock bands.
After completing high school, Richard attended California State University, Fullerton, focusing on vocal performance. He also studied pantomime, fencing, musical composition, and theater elements. Two classmates dared him to audition for the role of Lancelot in Camelot, and he was surprised to be cast in the role, competing against a large group of older, more experienced actors.
This marked the beginning of his professional theater career, which has since included numerous musicals, operas, plays, recordings, and concert venues, both nationally and internationally. He has played leading roles and soloist positions, including Javert in Les Miserables, which he performed on Broadway, in national tours, and on the international tour. Richard received the prestigious Joseph Jefferson, Jeff Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Javert.
In addition to his theatrical accomplishments, Richard has been awarded the Metropolitan Opera Encouragement Award, the Virginia Best Adams Singing Award, and the ASCAP Award For Popular Composition. Despite his extensive work in theater and singing, Richard has recently refocused his career on film and television, featuring as a supporting lead in several films.
Beyond his performance career, Richard is a published illustrator and painter, with his work showcased in several books, galleries, and private collections. He lives with his wife, daughter, and their two brilliant dogs in a beachside residence.
