Richard Albiston was born in Rugby, Warwickshire, but spent his formative years and received his education in the picturesque county of Lancashire. This early foundation laid the groundwork for his future success in the film industry. As Director of Development for the esteemed producer and Academy Award nominee Menahem Golan, Albiston penned an original screenplay, Allan Quatermain and the Jewel of the East, a sequel to the earlier Golan-produced films King Solomon's Mines (1985) and Allan Quatermain and the Lost City of Gold (1986),starring the renowned Richard Chamberlain and Sharon Stone.
His impressive portfolio of screenplay projects includes The Return of the Delta Force, American Ninja Apprentice, and the long-gestated supernatural thriller The Golem, all of which he collaborated on with Menahem Golan. More recently, Albiston has taken on various roles within the film industry, serving as head of production for Ovidio G. Assonitis' motion picture operations and managing AONE Highway Film Investments.
As head of production, Albiston is responsible for managing Mr. Assonitis' extensive catalog of motion pictures, many of which have become 'cult classics.' From 2016 to 2020, he sat on the creative board of The Great Northern Creative Festival/Expo as Creative Producer, overseeing the 'Expo Education' arm, which aims to inspire school-aged children to pursue further studies in the creative arts.
As part of the New Vision Group, Albiston co-wrote, produced, and directed the independent feature film Something Evil, Something Dangerous: New Moon Rising (2011),which received a limited theatrical release in the UK and achieved greater success on DVD. He also served as associate producer on the British thriller Bastion (2016) and produced The Great Northern Creative Show (2017),a syndicated magazine show accompanying the 2017 edition of The Great Northern Creative Festival.
In addition to his impressive filmography, Albiston holds a BA (Hons) degree and MA from the University of Central Lancashire, and is currently working towards his PhD in Film Development & Distribution at Lancaster University in England.
