Ric Walker is a multifaceted performer with a diverse background in various performance areas. During his undergraduate studies in Acting at Wright State University, he simultaneously honed his stand-up comedy skills, showcasing his natural talent by winning his first open mic night. This early success led to additional income and eventually, an invitation to join the fledgling comedy troupe, MCTD (Midwest Comedy Tool & Die).
Upon graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, Walker divided his time between performing in Shakespeare productions, contemporary dramas, and musicals, while also pursuing his comedy career. As MCTD grew in prominence, he became a key figure in the troupe's success, helping to establish it as one of the top ten nationally touring troupes of the 1990s.
In search of new theatrical opportunities, Walker relocated to Chicago, where he appeared in numerous productions. He soon found himself drawn into the world of Corporate Spokesmanship, delivering speeches and making appearances for prominent Fortune 500 companies, including Computer Associates, Oracle, and Eli Lilly.
However, Chicago's vibrant improv scene eventually pulled Walker back in, and he began performing with The Improvised Shakespeare Company in 2006. He has also contributed to over half a dozen revues at The Second City, while simultaneously teaching improv and performance techniques.
Walker's passion for teaching led him to pursue his Master of Fine Arts degree in Performance Pedagogy at the University of Pittsburgh, where he also served as a professor. He has worked extensively with inner-city youth through various enrichment programs and has facilitated workshops for organizations such as Operation Push/Excel, Coca Cola, After School Matters, and the Cook County Youth Correctional Facility.
In addition to his work with youth, Walker has designed and led improvisation, team-building, and communications workshops for numerous corporate clients, including Pepsi and Starbucks.
