Rajeshwari Sachdev, a talented actress, began her journey in the world of performing arts by taking to the stage, starring in plays with The Indian People's Theatre Association at Prithvi. This marked the starting point of her illustrious career, which would soon see her transition to films, earning her the prestigious Maharashtra State Government Award for Best Actress in her debut film "Aaytya Gharat Gharoba", directed by the talented Sachin.
Her impressive performance in Shyam Benegal's "Sardari Begum" garnered her the National Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role, solidifying her position as a talented actress. Interestingly, she went on to work with Benegal in eight of his films, further cementing her reputation as a skilled thespian.
Rajeshwari's remarkable talent did not go unnoticed on television either, as she dazzled audiences in the popular show "Margarita", winning the Screen Award for Best Actress. Her subsequent performance in the film "Aarambh" earned her yet another Screen Award for Best Actress, as well as the MATA (Maharashtra Times Award) for her outstanding performance.
Her big break in Hollywood came in the form of the epic film "Little Buddha", opposite the talented Keanu Reeves, and directed by the acclaimed Bernardo Bertolucci. This exposure only strengthened her resolve to explore new artistic avenues.
With 13 years of rigorous training in Bharatanatyam, an ancient Indian dance form, Rajeshwari naturally turned her attention to singing. By 2004, she had released three pop CDs, "Hulle Hullare", "Mukhda Piya Ka", and "Ummang", showcasing her versatility as a performer.
Rajeshwari's latest projects include the plays "Gauhar", directed by the acclaimed Lillette Dubey, and "Shabdh Leela", where she shares the stage with her husband, the talented Varun Badola, under the direction of K.K. Raina. Her father, Inderjit Sachdev, is also an actor, making her a true thespian in every sense of the word.
