Phillipe Forquet's journey in the entertainment industry began in 1962 when he was discovered by American director Robert Parrish, who cast him in a film adaptation of Irwin Shaw's novel, In the French Style, in 1963. Forquet played the role of the handsome and naive younger boyfriend of Jean Seberg, who had gained popularity in France after starring in the Otto Preminger film Saint Joan in 1957.
As a member of the celebrated Theatre Moufftard in Paris, Forquet's early career was marked by his good looks and charm, which caught the attention of Twentieth Century Fox producers. He was offered a contract and flown to Hollywood to be groomed into the new French heartthrob.
Forquet's first role in Hollywood was as a French artist and love interest in Take Her, She's Mine, alongside James Stewart and Sandra Dee, a popular teen star at the time. His dark good looks, sharp wit, and Gallic charm caused a stir among the ladies, earning him thousands of fan letters a week and features in fan magazines.
During his time in Hollywood, Forquet became engaged to young starlet Sharon Tate, but they eventually broke off the engagement due to the pressures of her rising career. He then decided to return to Europe, where he continued to work in the film industry.
Forquet was often typecast as a French aristocrat, playing roles such as the darkly handsome and dangerous Count De Varville in the cult film Camille 2000 and the Duc De La Bedoyere, the General's aide de camp, in the Russian co-production Waterloo in 1970.
In 1970, Forquet returned to Hollywood to star in the ABC-TV series The Young Rebels, produced by Aaron Spelling, where he played the role of General Marquis De Lafayette, an American Revolutionary War hero. The series, which aired against Lassie and Disney, rated third in the 7:00 time slot on network TV and was canceled after one season.
Forquet later married Linda Morand and they traveled throughout Europe before divorcing amicably in 1976. He has since retired from acting and lives a quiet life in France with his current wife and three children.
