Phillip Hugh Norman Rudd, born Phillip Hugh Norman Witschke Rudzevecuis on May 19, 1954, is a renowned Australian drummer with a remarkable career spanning multiple decades. Notably, he is best recognized for his extended tenure with the Australian hard rock band AC/DC, serving as a member from 1975 to 1983 and subsequently from 1994 to 2015.
Following the departure of bass guitarist Mark Evans from AC/DC in 1977, Rudd became the sole Australian-born member of the band, marking a significant milestone in his illustrious career. In 2003, he was honored with induction into the prestigious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside his fellow AC/DC bandmates.
Unfortunately, Rudd faced ongoing legal challenges in New Zealand, which ultimately prevented him from participating in the 2015 "Rock or Bust tour" with AC/DC. As a result, Chris Slade took his place as the band's drummer for the tour.
