Peter Millard, a talented actor, was born in Coldwater, Ontario, Canada. His mother, a remarkable woman, was the daughter of a Methodist Minister and had the strength and resilience to be a teacher in a one-room schoolhouse. In contrast, his father was a multifaceted individual who was a second-generation pharmacist, notary public, justice of the peace, insurance agent, drummer, cellist, and pianist. Furthermore, his father had a passion for building and constructed a 160-seat movie theatre, which is where Millard was first introduced to the magic of cinema.
Despite his early exposure to the silver screen, Millard has spent the majority of his career on the stage. He began his journey by apprenticing and subsequently spending 13 years as a member of the acting company of Toronto Workshop Productions, founded by the esteemed Artistic Director, George Luscombe. Throughout his career, he has worked in numerous theatres across Canada and has been fortunate enough to be a part of the acting ensemble of the renowned Shaw Festival in Niagara-On-The-Lake for an impressive 35 seasons. Notably, he has been nominated twice for a Dora Award and won once for his outstanding performance as 'WEEGEE The Famous' in the stage musical 'Little Mercy's First Murder,' written by Morwin Brebner, with music by Paul Sportelli and Jay Turvey.
In addition to his extensive stage experience, Millard has also made a significant impact in the world of film. Over the years, he has appeared in various productions, taking on roles as a series regular, guest star, and rising presence in the industry.
