Biography

Penny Gibbs is a talented actress based in the Detroit area, who has recently completed a supporting role in the feature film Cedar Rapids. In this film, she played a significant character alongside notable actors such as Ed Helms, Mike O'Malley, Anne Heche, and John C. Reilly.

In addition to her work in Cedar Rapids, Penny has appeared in various commercials, including those for Ziebart, Harley Home Improvement, Trident layers, and Baker College, where she held the lead role in each production. Her versatility as an actress has allowed her to be cast in a range of roles, from loving mother/wife/friend types to more dramatic and over-the-top characters with an edge.

Penny's acting teacher has described her as an "emotional actress with sensitivity and depth of emotion," and she has a reputation for being able to evoke strong emotional responses from directors. Her performance in the short film Oily Pen Stuff for the Sundance Film Festival was praised by the director, who noted that her "Come back here you little punk" line was a standout moment in the film.

Penny has also received critical acclaim for her performances in feature films such as Politics of Street Crime and her latest role as Emma Fisherman, which left the director and crew in tears. Her portrayal of a tragic mother in Politics of Street Crime was described as "heartbreaking" and worthy of Meryl Streep's performances.

In terms of her acting style, Penny draws inspiration from actresses such as Susan Sarandon, Sally Field, and Ellen Barkin, although she is younger than these talented ladies. She is also comfortable playing neurotic and humorous roles, similar to those played by Shelley Long and Meg Ryan.

Penny's extensive training at the Actors Workshop has taught her valuable skills, including how to push herself beyond her comfort zone and improve her craft. She is proud of her ability to land an interview with Lord of the Rings actor Billy Boyd while working as an extra on the film Ecstasy, and has used this experience to further her career as a web journalist.
