Pauline Oliveros

Pauline Oliveros, a visionary American accordionist and composer, was born on May 30, 1932, in the vibrant city of Houston, Texas. As one of the pioneering female figures in the evolution of post-war electronic art music, she has left an indelible mark on the music world. Oliveros was a co-founder of the esteemed San Francisco Tape Music Center in the 1960s, where she served as the esteemed Director, guiding the creative trajectory of this influential institution. Throughout her illustrious career, she has shared her expertise as a music instructor at various esteemed institutions, including Mills College, the University of California, San Diego (UCSD),Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
