Pat Silver-Lasky was born in Seattle, Washington, and went on to have a remarkable career in the entertainment industry. She wrote as a team with her late husband, Jesse L. Lasky Jr., who was a well-known Hollywood screenwriter and author. Jesse Jr. was the son of Jesse Lasky, a film pioneer who produced the first full-length motion picture in Hollywood, The Squaw Man, in 1914.
Together, Pat and Jesse Jr. wrote four books, including the American best-seller, 'The Offer', which was published in 1982. They also produced eight films and nearly 100 TV scripts, including the award-winning TV series Explorers, which was aired in the US. Pat began her career by producing, writing, directing, and acting in the first live TV series from Hollywood, 'Mabel's Fables', for KTLA, which received an Emmy nomination.
As an A.S.C.A.P. lyricist, Pat published 14 songs, including the lyric "While You're Young", which was featured on Johnny Mathis' album 'Portrait of Johnny'. She also wrote lyrics for two films at Columbia, Robbers' Roost, in 1955, and Radio Stars on Parade. Pat has lived in London since the 1960s and has been involved in various projects in the entertainment industry.
Pat and Jesse were head writers and story editors of the Philip Marlowe, Private Eye TV series in 1983. Pat has also lectured on script writing and was a script consultant and lecturer at the London International Film School for eight years until 1999. Her new book, 'Screenwriting For the 21st Century', is set to be published by Batsford (Chrysalis) Books in August 2003.
In addition to her writing and lecturing, Pat will be conducting a one-week writing seminar at Castle of Park, Scotland, in September 2003, and will speak at the Writer's Conference on the Isle of Wight in October 2003.
