Omar Mora's life journey began in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, where he was born and raised. His early years set the stage for a career in medicine, as he pursued his passion for healing by studying to become a doctor in both Puerto Rico and Mexico. After completing his medical training, Mora relocated to New York City to continue his education and secure a medical residency.
It was during his residency at Saint Vincent's Hospital in New York that Mora witnessed the devastating effects of the September 11th tragedy. This life-changing event led him to re-evaluate his priorities and pursue his long-held dream of becoming an actor. While still a resident in physical medicine and rehabilitation, Mora enrolled in a two-year acting program at The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts, marking the beginning of his journey in the entertainment industry.
After completing his acting program, Mora made the bold decision to relocate to Los Angeles, where he continued to build his career in both medicine and acting. His impressive resume in the independent film world is a testament to his dedication and perseverance.
In 2012, Mora's creative ambitions expanded to include writing. His passion for storytelling and desire to share his unique perspectives with audiences drove him to write several feature film scripts and, in 2013, his first literary novel, Ancient Explorers: The Lost City of Peru. This critically acclaimed novel is based on one of his film scripts and is available on Amazon.com.
As his writing career continued to flourish, Mora established Moras Productions, Inc., a production company dedicated to developing his scripts into feature films. The company's first short film, A Busy Mind, was distributed by PBS in 2014, and its first feature film, 30 Days with My Brother, received a limited theatrical release through AMC Theaters across the nation in 2016. This groundbreaking achievement made Mora the first Puerto Rican producer to secure a film distributed by AMC Theaters through AMC Independent.
Moras Productions has since produced a comic book series, The Unearthians, which was released at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019, and the feature film Inside the Circle, which premiered worldwide on VOD in September 2021. Additionally, Mora is working on an updated version of his novel Ancient Explorers: The Lost City of Peru, which will be released in 2022 in a hybrid novel-comic book format.
Throughout his career, Mora has remained committed to his craft, earning membership in prestigious organizations such as SAG-AFTRA and the Producer's Guild Of America. His remarkable journey is a testament to the power of perseverance, creativity, and a passion for storytelling.
