Olga Barnet is a renowned Russian actress, born Olga Borisovna Barnet on September 3, 1951, in the Soviet Union. Her father, Boris Barnet, was a legendary Soviet film actor and director, who was in his fourth marriage to Olga's mother, Alla Kazarnovskaya, an actress of Vakhtangov Theatre in Moscow. Unfortunately, her father committed suicide in 1965 when Olga was just 14 years old.
Olga Barnet studied acting under A. Borisov at Shchukin Theatrical School of Vakhtangov Theatre from 1968 to 1972, graduating as an actress in 1972. The same year, she made her film debut as Mother in Solaris (1972) directed by Andrei Tarkovsky.
Since 1972, Olga Barnet has been a permanent member of the troupe at Moscow Art Theatre (MKhAT),where she has worked alongside many renowned Russian actors, including Anatoli Ktorov, Alla Tarasova, Olga Androvskaya, Angelina Stepanova, Mikhail Yanshin, Viktor Stanitsyn, Aleksey Gribov, Mark Prudkin, Anastasiya Georgievskaya, Vasili Toporkov, Mikhail Bolduman, Pavel Massalsky, and the next generation of MKhAT actors.
Olga Barnet has made many notable stage appearances, including roles in Anton Chekhov's classic plays such as Olga in 'Tri Sestry' (The Three Sisters) and 'Vishnevy sad' (The Cherry Orchard). She has also performed in Maurice Maeterlinck's 'Sinyaya ptitsa' (The Blue Bird) and Aleksandr Griboyedov's 'Gore ot Uma' (Woe From Wit).
Throughout her career, Olga Barnet has been recognized with numerous awards and honors, including the designation of People's Actress of Russia. She has also been involved in humanitarian causes, such as pet rescue missions, and is currently living in Moscow, Russia.
